Top 5 Healthiest Packaged Snacks

Snacking is one of the most controversial nutrition topics with so many people arguing with and against. Reality is, we all crave a snack from time to time and children, especially, sometimes survive on them (think picky-eaters and sickness). If you have been going back and forth on the idea of snacking, you are not alone! Research has found that 94% of adults and 98% of children snack daily. But snacks don’t need to be devoid of nutrients and can be a great opportunity to sneak in healthy ingredients that leave you feeling great afterwards and wouldn’t raise the suspicions of the pickiest of eaters.

In an ideal world, we would all have time to prepare every snack we and our families consume. Our fast-paced hectic lives, however, mean that we are often strapped for time and committing time to preparing our own snacks is sometimes impossible. This need not be a problem if you are in the practice of reading food labels and identifying the ingredients that go into the food you buy. Some snacks marketed as healthy and natural, have very few nutrients that abide with either of those words, whilst others are a great addition to your everyday snacking routine.

To make your lives easier, I have gone through a large number of snacks on the market in Lebanon and have identified the most nutritious. The list is based on the ingredient list which is always clean for all the ones ranked and the nutrient count including fats (and which kind), protein, fiber and salt. It also takes into account ingredients with antioxidants and vitamins.

Top 5:

  1. Biolicious Beetroot & Celery Crackers
  2. Kaaju Cashews with Kaffir Lime
  3. Biolicious Thyme & Carrot Crackers
  4. Bites of Delight Thyme Crackers
  5. Eshmoon Apple Chocolate Chips

You can find all these great snacks at Mint Basil Market and have them delivered right to your door putting your mind at ease and marking a great start to a happy healthy week.
