They have a biscuit base, tahini caramel filling, and sugar-free dark chocolate topping. The coconut flour crust is grain-free, and the tahini caramel doesn’t require any dairy. Health Coach Mira Hoss says that her favorite chocolate since childhood has been Twix bars. So she decided to re-create them with a healthier twist. “I have it whenever my sweet tooth kicks in and feel like I need a chocolate snack to satisfy my cravings.”
Her inspiration for this recipe came from international health coaches who posted about Twix recipes. She ended up changing a few ingredients and adding tahini, as tahini has several health benefits, and she personally likes the aftertaste.
Mira’s recipe of Tahini Caramel Bars fits everyone’s diet because it is vegan, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free. It is made with clean ingredients that are easy to digest and are very filling. You will need:
- 1 bowl
- 1 baking tray
- 1 parchment paper
- Double boiler

BISCUIT BASE INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 cup GF oat flour
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/4 tsp pink Himalayan salt
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup or honey
- 3 tbsp melted coconut oil
CARAMEL CENTER INGREDIENTS
- 4 dates
- 3 tbsp tahini
- 2 tbsp unsweetened almond milk
CHOCOLATE TOP INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 cup sugar-free dark chocolate
- 2 tsp coconut oil
- Dash of pink Himalayan salt
This recipe is divided into three easy parts. So let’s get started!
I - Making the biscuit base
Gradually add to a bowl 3/4 cup gluten-free oat flour, 1/2 cup almond flour, 1/4 tsp pink Himalayan salt, 3 tbsp melted coconut oil, and finally 1 tbsp maple syrup or raw honey. Mix well until you get a solid paste.
Grab your baking tray and place the parchment paper. Transfer your mixture to the tray and press well to flatten.
Preheat your oven at 180°C. Bake your base for 10 minutes or until the crust is golden. Then let cool for 10 mins.
II - Making the caramel center
While the crust is baking, soak 4 pitted dates in boiling water for 10 mins.
After 10 mins, drain the water and mash the dates.
In the same bowl, add unsweetened 2 tbsp almond milk and mix. Then add 3 tbsp tahini and mix.
Get your baking tray that was cooling on the side and add the paste directly on top of the biscuit layer. Spread evenly.
Freeze for 30 mins.
III - Making the chocolate top
While your base and center are chilling, prepare a double boiler. Add the 3/4 cup sugar-free dark chocolate and 2 tsp coconut oil and allow to slowly melt. Mix often.
Once everything has melted, remove the bowl from the stove. Let cool to room temperature.
Get your baking tray from the freezer and slice the layers into bars.
Transfer to a plate and spread the melted chocolate on top. Smooth it out and place the tray back in the fridge until serving time.
