Self Love By Tinia Nassif
To celebrate the beautiful day of love, Holistic Health Coach and a Mint Basil Market Expert Tinia Nassif will help you on your journey to self-love by explaining what self-love is and what you can do to nurture it within yourself.
Self-love is about treating yourself with kindness and respect. It’s about nurturing your growth and your wellbeing. It’s about understanding who you are in this very moment and accepting it while understanding your emotions for what they are and accepting them. It’s about understanding what you deserve and never settling for anything less.
Do keep one thing in mind: self-love is not selfish, not narcissistic, not just about self-care, and not a one-size-fits-all. What works for one person does not necessarily work for another.
Keeping that in mind, Tinia would like to share with you her top self-love practices!
1. Practicing Gratitude
Try to notice at least one beautiful small thing about yourself every single day. Make note of it, and be grateful for it. Gratitude not only gives you perspective, but it’s also essential to help you find joy. It changes your perspective from a negative to a positive one.
2. Positive Affirmations
Positive affirmations are positive phrases and statements that are repeated to help challenge negative thoughts and encourage positive changes in your life. An example of positive affirmations could be “I am enough”, “I am worth it”, “I love and accept my body completely”.
Using positive affirmations to change your thought patterns requires regular practice. Try choosing one or two positive affirmations and reading them when you wake up, regularly throughout the day, and again before bedtime. Make positive thoughts a part of your everyday routine!
3. Setting Healthy Boundaries
What one person needs may be vastly different from the other. No matter the root causes, setting boundaries means self-love. It means knowing you're worth it and you aren't afraid to make sacrifices to maintain health and happiness.
Other forms of self-love could manifest as taking time off work to stretch and relax, taking time off your phone to connect with yourself, listening to your body’s needs, decluttering your space, eating well, and drinking plenty of water. Whatever it is, Tinia hopes you choose to love yourself today and every day.
Celebrate the most important relationship in your life this Valentine’s Day, and that’s your relationship with yourself!
